Government Grants Another Waiver

Monrovia, Liberia - The Liberian government has granted a hundred percent waiver on storage charges covering personal effects, humanitarian and medical items currently at the Freeport of Monrovia.

The decision to waive storages charges was reached following a meeting on Tuesday between President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and the Management and Board of Directors of the National Port Authority.

Under terms of the waiver, institutions or individuals applying for waivers must clear all finance and other customs taxes to qualify.

President Johhnson Sirleaf expressed the hope that the decision to waive all storage charges would alleviate the plight of ordinary citizens, returness and institutions.

The Ministry of Finance in consultation with the Office of the President of Liberia recently granted tax waiver on Land, Building, and Rental Income to all Liberian and non-Liberian property owners, dating back to 2005.
