Monrovia, Liberia - Vice President Joseph N. Boakai, Sr. has lauded the Italian Government for its continuous support to the A.M. Dogliotti College of Medicine.

He said the Italian government’s contribution to the development of the new medical curriculum will strengthen A.M Doggliotti’s training capacity.

Vice President Boakai made the commendation Monday during the turning over of the new medical training curriculum of the Dogliotti College of Medicine to Liberian stakeholders at the College’s main campus in Sinkor.

Vice President Boakai said he was very excited that competent doctors who left the country are now returning to contribute meaningfully to the development of the medical college.

Vice President Boakai praised the quality and competence of doctors who have returned home to rebuild the medical college to its pre-war status.

Earlier, University of Liberia President Dr. Emmet A. Dennis said what they were witnessing at the Medical College was the evolution of the medical curriculum, which he said is intended to take it to another level.

He urged the Liberian stakeholders to take ownership of the Medical College. “Times are constantly changing and we too must change with it. As you deliberate this new curriculum, we want you to come up with some compromises that will put this medical college on par with other medical institutions around the world,” Dr. Dennis charged the stakeholders.

On the issue of autonomy, Dr. Dennis said he was pleased about it because, he noted, “it will lessen my job.”
