Vice President Joseph N. Boakai Commissions Audit

Tuesday, 17th April 2007
Monrovia, Monrovia -The Vice President of Liberia, Joseph N. Boakai has ordered a comprehensive financial audit of the Interim Liberian Marketing Committee (ILMC).

The audit, the Vice President Boakai directed, should cover the period since the Interim Management Team headed by Mrs. Comfort Bedell Marshall, has been in office from October 2006 to April 30.

In a letter to Mr. Claude J. Katta, Financial Director in the Vice Presidentís Office, Dr. Boakai challenged the auditors to examine internal control structures of the LMA, measure compliance with standards, examine all cash and bank controls with special emphasis on cash collections, deposits and withdrawals.

The audit, the letter explained, should report on all amounts collected, all expenditures made, as well as bank reports on deposits, withdrawals and payments on loans, among others.

The Vice President is accordingly calling on all members of the Interim Management Team and affiliate staff of the LMA, including Superintendents, Collectors and others who may have information germane to the audit, to give their fullest and unhindered cooperation to the audit team headed by Mr. Katta.

Vice President Boakai says all members of the LMA are under obligation to grant full disclosure of any financial information that may be relevant to the audit.
