Vice President Boakai salutes the people of Nigeria

Monrovia, Liberia - President Boakai has saluted the Government and people of Nigeria on the occasion of the 52nd Independence anniversary of that Country and hailed the brotherly ties subsisting between the two West African nations. He recounted the many sacrifices Nigerians continue to make to sustain the peace in Liberia. Vice President Boakai was speaking at the Nigerian Embassy Monday at celebration marking that countryís 52nd Independence Day.

Nigeria was among the first West African Nations to send troops to Liberia in August of 1990 and has since maintained troops in the country to keep the peace in Liberia.

The occasion was celebrated in grand style at Nigeria House in Congo Town outside Monrovia, a release from the Office of the Vice President said.
