Monrovia, Liberia - Vice President Joseph N. Boakai has reaffirmed Liberiaís commitment to the principles, ideals and charter of the United Nations.

According to the Vice President, Liberia remains appreciative of the peace building initiatives and many other support activities undertaken by the United Nations in enhancement of the living conditions of our people.

The Vice President remarks were contained in a speech delivered on his behalf by His Press Secretary, George Saah at programs marking the 67th Anniversary of the United Nations hosted by Student United for Reconstruction and Education in Harbel, Margibi County.

In the speech the Vice President said, with greater assurance of a brighter future the UN continues on its course of conflict prevention, conflict resolution, peace building and sustainable development.

A release from the Office of the Vice President said as the world turns this remarkable page in its history, Liberia finds itself with great exuberance, moving forward onto the doorsteps of its tenth year of sustained peace.

He extended his salutation to the Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki-Moon and the President of the General Assembly Vuk Jeremic and the global family on this historic milestone, the release added.
