US Military Advisor Ends Tour of Duty

Monrovia, Liberia - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has stressed the importance of the new Armed Forces of Liberia in rebuilding the country. The Liberian leader has also expressed her pleasure that the country is now moving toward the establishment of a professional and institutionalized army.

President Johnson-Sirleaf spoke today at her Foreign Ministry office when she met with Colonel James L. Dew Jr., outgoing United States Military Advisor to the Liberian Government. Colonel Dew has completed his tour of duty in Liberia having served for six months.

For his part, Colonel Dew said he enjoyed his tour of duty and praised Defense Minister Brownie Samukai for the high level of professionalism exhibited.

The United States outgoing Military Advisor was accompanied to the Foreign Ministry by Defense Minister, Brownie Samukai.
