Monrovia, Liberia - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has participated in the inaugural ceremony of His Excellency Alhaji Oumaru Musa Yar’Adua and His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, President and Vice President respectively of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The President joined hundreds of dignitaries and well- wishers at an elaborate program held at Eagle Square in central Abuja.

President Johnson Sirleaf was later invited to Aso Rock, the presidential palace, where she became the first leader to dine with President and Mrs. Yar’Adua as they discussed ways through which they could strengthen the long existing ties between Liberia and Nigeria. She congratulated President Yar’Adua, adding that she looked forward to building the same cordial ties she had with his predecessor, former President Obasanjo.

For his part, President Yar’Adua pledged support to Nigeria-Liberia relations, saying his government will continue to support Liberia’s reconstruction efforts.
