VICE PRESIDENT BOAKAI SALUTES PRESIDENT SIRLEAF, WOMEN OF LIBERIA AND WORLD OVER ON THE OCCASION OF INTERNATIONAL WOMENíS DAY

Monrovia, Liberia - Vice President Joseph N. Boakai  has extended through President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, to the women of  Liberia  and the world over warm felicitations on the occasion of  International  Women’s Day.

In a communication to President Sirleaf, Vice President Boakai said ,”it is befitting that we humbly acknowledge the hugh inspiration you have adequately presented yourself to be, not only to the struggling female population of our own dear country, but, even further, to all women who inspire to lift themselves out of the traditional realm of marginalization to which they have so unfairly been assigned.”

A press release from the Vice President’s Office quotes him as saying that ‘the Life of President Sirleaf bespeaks a reservoir of inspiration for all who long to fetch from it.”
Noting further the Vice President said ‘President Sirleaf has prevailed over many travails of life, imprinting one exemplary feat after the other and her life journey has molded her into a personality that exudes those virtues that supply comfort,assurance and hope for all women who teetered on the brink of hopelessness.”

The release further went on to say that ‘today  President Sirleaf and other luminary women constituting that unmistakable assuring point of reference, young Liberian girls are filled with vigor and optimistic anticipation in their pursuit of those paths that lead to their self fulfillment.”

‘As Liberians join the rest of the world in celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women in acknowledgment of their economic, political and social achievements, we find it as an act in flattery to recount the trail blazing figure you are.”

Meanwhile, Vice President Boakai has saluted women in the various fields of endeavour- in the Legislature, the Executive, the Judiciary,  market women and housewives for their courage and steadfastness in purpose.

This year’s International Women’s Day is being celebrated under the theme”A Promise is a promise: Time for Action to end violence against women.”
