President Sirleaf Launches PricewaterhouseCoopers; Describes it as Boost to Accountancy in Liberia

Monrovia, Liberia: President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has officially launched the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Liberia, a multinational professional services firm describing it as a boost to accountancy in Liberia.

According to an Executive Mansion release, President Sirleaf made the statement when she launched PricewaterhouseCoopers on Thursday, October 13, 2016 during a ceremony held at PwC Liberia’s offices on 9th Street, Payne Avenue, Sinkor, Monrovia. “We need to work with you and will make sure it works”, she said.

She said PricewaterhouseCoopers’ return to Liberia marks a significant development in the government’s drive to attract foreign direct investment in an evolving economy. President Sirleaf added that Liberia has a huge potential for growth due to its abundant natural resources and emerging markets.

The Liberian leader said the establishment will now help citizens file their income return taxas well as help small entities formulate their business plans. She furthered that the government welcomes the initiative and will work with the establishment in realizing itsaims. She used the occasion to congratulated PWC and partners for the efforts adding, “ We applaud  all of you especially our own sons  who have excelled”  She noted.

Also speaking, was the President of the Liberia Institute of Certified Public Accountant (LICPA), Mr. Arthur Fumba who expressed happiness for the launch of the entity noting that no more would an international accountancy group surface and benefit at the detriment of the people. He stressed further the Liberia Certified Public Accountant will leave no stone unturned in asserting its regulatory authority for the benefit of the people.

In separate remarks, PwC’s Regional Senior Partner of the West Market Area, Mr. Uyi Akpata, Liberia’s Country Senior Partner, Mr. Taweh Jefferson Veikai, commended President Sirleaf for her exceptional leadership role in the sub-region and on behalf of the people of Liberia.

PricewaterhouseCoopers is an accountant firm, which provides services in insurance, advisory and tax services with offices in 157 countries and is among leading professional services network providers in the world with more than 223,468 peoples worldwide delivering quality services.

The ceremony was graced several dignitaries including government officials, international partners as well as heads and representatives of various business houses.
