Liberian Legislators Extend 52nd Session by Additional Month

Friday, 31st August 2007
Monrovia, Liberia - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has signed into law a proclamation extending the Regular Session of the 52nd Session of the National Legislature by one month, beginning September 1 – 30, 2007.

The proclamation, according to an Executive Mansion release, is intended to afford the National Legislature the opportunity to complete any unfinished business of the present regular Session or for an emergency case of matter.

Both houses of the National Legislature, this week signed a certificate to extend their stay in session by an additional month.

Under the law, the National Legislature is closed from its Regular Session for recess on the first Friday of July of every year. The additional one month extension will now allow the legislature to take its break at the end of September.
