Decision to Bury Fallen Gbarpolu Senator in Monrovia Raises Concern--President Sirleaf Clarifies

Friday, 14th September 2007
Monrovia, Liberia - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has clarified that the decision to bury the late Gbarpolu county Senator, Samuel Tormetie in Monrovia rather than in his home county, was made by his wife and family and accepted by the Liberian Senate.

A statement from the Office of the President said the Government of Liberia was prepared to do all it could to improve the road conditions that would have facilitated his burial in Gbarpolu, but had no choice but to respect the decision of the wife and family.
