NASSCORP and LMA Agree to Construct New Market Facilities in Liberia

Tuesday, 21st November 2006
Monrovia, Liberia - The National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) and the Liberia Marketing Association have reached an agreement in principle to construct new market facilities in Liberia.

Under the agreement, NASSCORP will extend a soft loan to the LMA for the project, which the LMA is expected to repay over a period of time.

During a meeting with LMA officials at the Vice Presidentís 12th Street office Monday, NASSCORP Managing Director, Francis Carbah pledged to help the LMA become a viable institution that all Liberians would be proud of.

The need for NASSCORP and the LMA to forge this partnership was proposed by  Vice President Boakai, who also has oversight responsibility for the Liberia Marketing Association.

The Vice President who chaired the meeting, used the occasion to sound a stern warning to members of the newly appointed management team of the Liberia Marketing Association to live up to expectation.

He reminded officials of the LMA management team to see their assignment as a call to national service, and not for self-aggrandizement or profit.
