Monrovia, Liberia -Liberia’s Vice President Joseph N. Boakai says the Unity Party-led Government would encourage anything that will bring Liberians together .

He observed that the visit to Liberia of U.S based Senegalese musical star, Aliueane Thiam, alias Akon, was a very good moment for Liberia, as it has added to the peace now prevailing in the country.

“Your presence has brought a lot of joy to young Liberians,” Vice President Boakai said adding that Akon’s talent has made a major contribution to the world.

Vice President Boakai  made the observation Tuesday when musical megastar Akon, accompanied by executives of Cellcom, paid a courtesy call on him at his Capitol Building office.

Hundreds of fans turned out at the Capitol, the seat of the National Legislature, to catch a glimpse of the musical icon Akon who is due to storm the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex Tuesday for a musical jamboree which will also feature leading Liberian musical artists.

Akon who was simply dressed in t-shirt, jeans and snickers, only  said he was honoured to call on the Vice President.
