Monrovia, Liberia - The Cabinet has convened in its first session for 2007 following the Christmas and New Year Holidays, with President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf urging her Cabinet to continue the collaborative spirit that has made a difference during the past year.

The President praised the Cabinet and other officials of government for the hard work, sacrifices and dedication to duty. “You have made a big difference in the lives of our people,” the Liberian Leader noted. The President expressed optimism about government’s development agenda and urged the Cabinet to continue to remain focused to ensure that more progress is made toward the development initiatives of government.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet has pledged to redouble its efforts so as to maximize results and bring further credit to the leadership of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
In a statement of Appreciation and Commendation read on behalf of the Cabinet by Foreign Minister, Ambassador George Wallace, the Cabinet paid special homage to the President for her successful stewardship over the past year.

“We are indeed proud and grateful,’ the statement noted, ‘to form part of your pioneering official Team, and pledged our unflinching loyalty and support to the success of your leadership.”

The Cabinet assured the President that it would do all within its powers to expand the gains made thus far, “and ensure that you fulfill the expectations of the Liberian people for which they entrusted you with their votes.”
