City Council of Bibbona Honors Vice President Boakai

Bibbona, Italy - The City Council of Bibbona has bestowed on Vice President Joseph N. Boakai the title of “Honorary Citizen of Bibbona”.

“On behalf of all the Citizens of Bibbona, the council and local institutions,  I am glad to bestow on you the title of Honorary Citizen of Bibbona,” a citation read by an interpreter  said.

Performing the honoring ceremony Tuesday at the Bibbona City Hall, the Mayor of Bibbona, Madam Fiorella Mavini observed that the visits of Vice President Boakai to Italy were “very profitable” ones that would help to further nurture relations between Liberia and Italy.

In response, Vice President Boakai expressed gratitude to the Mayor and people of Bibbona for the honor bestowed on him, and thanked Liberia’s Acting Consul-General in Italy, Mr. Varo Junior Macchi for his instrumentality in his recognitiond by the people of Bobbona.

He thanked Mr. Varo for working with Liberia’s Charge d’Affaires in Italy, Musu Ruhle in promoting Liberian interests in Italy.

Vice President Boakai arrived in Italy Tuesday morning for a four-day visit. He is expected to return home Friday.

Following the ceremony, the Liberian Vice President presented flags bearing the Liberian seal  to Mayor Mavini and Deputy Bibbona City Mayor Renzo Cioni, hoping this would serve as a memento of his visit to that city.
