President Sirleaf Signs Joint Resolution

Monrovia, Liberia - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has signed the Joint Resolution on the temporary sitting of the House of Representatives and the Senate at the Unity Conference Center. The Joint resolution submitted to the Office of the President over the weekend was signed Saturday night by the President. It was submitted by the Senate and the House of Representatives.

The Joint resolution authorizes the use of the Unity Conference Center as the declared and designated temporary Official Seat of the Legislature, pending the return of the Law-makers to the Capitol building which is undergoing renovation.
According to the Document, the Joint Resolution takes effect and shall remain in force until the keys of the Capitol building, the Seat of the Legislature, are turned over to the Legislature.

The Joint Resolution added that the Honorable Senate and the House of Representatives of the 52nd Legislature commenced its 2nd Session on January 15, 2007 at the Unity Conference Center and shall remain at the Facilities pending the Bodyís return to the Capitol.

President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf delivers her Annual Message Monday, January 29 to the 2nd Joint Session of the 52nd Legislature. The Presidentís Message according to an Executive Mansion Press Release, quoting an announcement from the Office of the Chief of Protocol of Liberia, will be delivered at the Unity Conference Center in Virginia at 4:00 p.m.  

All persons attending the Message are requested to be seated at 3:50 p.m.
