Vice President Boakai Welcomes Destiny Conference

Thursday, 19th March 2009
Monrovia, Liberia - Liberian Vice President Joseph N. Boakai has welcomed the hosting of the 2009 ‘Destiny Church Conference’ in Liberia.

He observed that such a conference was ‘important’ for a country coming out of a prolonged, terrible conflict which left infrastructure in ruins and many people traumatized.

Vice President Boakai was speaking on March 19 when a high-powered delegation from the Lutheran Church of the United States of America, accompanied by Bishop George Harris of the Philadelphia Central Church, paid a courtesy call on him at his Capitol Building office.

The delegation is in the country to participate in the ‘Destiny Conference’ that kicked off March 17 at the Philadelphia Central Church in the eastern Monrovia suburb of Congo Town.

The Liberian Vice President said the hosting of the Conference in Liberia was an ‘encouragement and inspiration’ to the leadership of the post-war country, and a morale booster for the entire citizenry.

Vice President Boakai welcomed the delegation to Liberia on behalf of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, and hoped that the Conference would achieve its desired results.

The Destiny Conference held under the theme, “Transitioning from Traditional Mindset to Kingdom Mindset”, is hosted by the Christ Redemption World Outreach Ministries (CREWOM).

The head of the Lutheran Church delegation, Rev. Dr. Jackie McCullough, delivered the keynote address at the Conference which brought together Christians from all denominations.
