Vice President Boakai Holds Bilateral Talks with Egyptian Envoy

Monrovia, Liberia - The new Egyptian Ambassador to Liberia, His Excellency Ahmed Fadel Yakoub, paid a courtesy call on Vice President Joseph N. Boakai at his Capitol Building Office on July 20.

Speaking during the ensuing discussions, Vice President Boakai lauded Egypt’s continued support to Liberia in its reconstruction and development effort.

Vice President Boakai recalled Egypt’s educational support to Liberia over the years in awarding fellowships to Liberians to study in Egypt. He also lauded Egypt for its support to Liberia’s peace process, noting, “There’s nothing good that happens to Liberia that Egypt is not involved in." The Vice President restated the Liberian Government’s commitment to further strengthening longstanding ties between Liberia and Egypt.

In remarks, Ambassador Yakoub pledged his country’s continued support to Liberia’s reconstruction and development initiatives.He recalled that Egypt is one of the contributing countries to the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL), and pledged that his country would do all it can to help sustain peace in Liberia. Ambassador Yakoub used the occasion to extend an invitation to Vice President Boakai to grace his country’s independence anniversary celebration on July 23rd.
