Vice President to Address 64th U.N. General Assembly

United Nations, New York - It has been confirmed at the United Nations Headquarters that the Vice President of Liberia, H.E. Joseph N. Boakai, will on the afternoon of September 25, 2009 address the 64th Session of the United Nations General Assembly as the second speaker in the general debate.

This will be the second time the Liberian Vice President will be addressing the Regular Session of the 192 member organization. His first was in October 2007.

The Vice President is scheduled to arrive at the JFK International Airport on September 24, 2009 at the head of an 11-member official delegation to participate in deliberations of the 64th Regular Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

While in New York, Vice President Boakai will pay a courtesy call on United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon. He is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with Obama Administration officials as well as a cross-section of the education and business communities.

Members of the Vice Presidentís delegation include Hon. Amara Konneh, Minister of Planning and Economic Affairs; Walter Gwenigale, M.D., Minister of Health and Social Welfare; and Dr. Florence Chenoweth, Minister of Agriculture.

Others are: Mr. Samuel A. Stevquoah, III, Chief of Staff, Office of the Vice President and Hon. Henry Fahnbulleh, Senior Political Advisor to the Vice President.
