Monrovia, Liberia - Thirty wheelchairs were on Thursday evening donated to the Group of ’77 by the France based charity Butterfly.

The Founder and Executive Director of Butterfly Liberia, Madam Lisa Viau said the wheelchairs were mobilized and donated to Butterfly Liberia by ten humanitarians working for the France based company ATPN&H.

Madam Viau pledged her organization’s continued support to the Group of ‘77 and hoped the wheelchairs would bring smiles to the beneficiaries.

Receiving the wheelchairs on behalf of Second lady Kartumu Y. Boakai at a brief ceremony held in the compound of the Group of ’77 on Newport Street, the Administrator of the Group of ’77, Rev. Constance Kennedy thanked Madam Viau for the humanitarian gesture.

“We want to say to Butterfly that you will keep flying, because we believe that your mission is to make sure that everyone reaches his or her dream,” she said.

She observed that one of the ways to make the handicapped of the Group of ’77 mobile is to provide wheelchairs for them adding, “so we want to say to you that these wheelchairs are highly appreciated”.
Rev. Kennedy assured that they would be used for the intended purpose, adding, “And we believe strongly that you are going to put a smile on somebody’s face who had not thought on where to get a new wheelchair from.”
She then expressed the hope that Butterfly would continue to think about inmates of the Group of ’77 because, she noted, “there is a need to be a blessing to our people to help them to move about freely.”Butterfly is a non-profit organization established in Liberia in November 2009 to help the needy. According to Ms Viau, Butterfly is also engaged in helping to educate Liberian children.

She said Butterfly is currently constructing a school in Marshall to help educate kindergarten and lower grade children.
