President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has expressed profound regrets over a shooting incident at the Virginia College in the United States, which led to the death of more than thirty students.

An Executive Mansion release says the President spoke on Tuesday at the Foreign Ministry when she bided farewell to Colonel David Osinski, outgoing United States Defense Advisor to Defense Minister Brownie Samukai. Col. Osinski has completed six months tour of duty to Liberia.

The President thanked the American military official for his dedication and commitment to Liberiaís security sector reform, adding that Minister Samukai had often spoken of Colonel Osinskiís exemplary advisory role.

For his part, Colonel Osinski observed that he sees a lot of enthusiasm among the troops of the Armed Forces of Liberia, but stressed that they need more encouragement.

The outgoing U.S. Military Advisor has had decades of military service. He served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kenya and Madagascar. He also supported United States Missions in East and Southern Africa, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Italy and Vietnam.

Also present at the farewell meeting were Defense Minister Brownie Samukai and United States Ambassador Donald Booth.
