Vice President Joseph N. Boakai commands Liberians in the US for Peace in Liberia

Vice President Joseph N. Boakai on the first leg of his visit to the United States has commended Liberians in the Diaspora for the role they played to help keep the peace in Liberia through remittances and other forms of assistance and informed them that Liberia has once more regained its dignity among the comity of nations.

He said Liberia was on the rise as evident by the number of businesses that were coming to the country to invest in the rebuilding of the economy.

According to the Director of Media Relations to the Vice President, George Saah , Vice President Boakai made these remarks Tuesday when he addressed a cross section of Liberians in downtown Atlanta ,during a welcome reception hosted by the Honorary Consul General of Liberia to the Atlanta, Cynthia Nash and Judge Melvin Johnson.

He said it is time that Liberians in the United States and other parts of the world come home to participate in the great task of nation building. Speaking earlier, Liberia’s Ambassador to the United States, William Bull says through the vision of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Vice President Joseph N. Boakai, Liberia is on the steady path of development.

He said President Sirleaf’s  team was promoting the interest of Liberia and Africa and recounted Liberia’s role as a beacon of hope for Africa and the contributions that Liberia made in the struggle for African redemption.

A dispatch from Atlanta quotes the Liberian Diplomat as saying that every Liberian should be proud of these accomplishments , the successes that Liberia has made over the past six years, and the  role that their country continue to play in African and world Affairs.

Earlier, the Vice President and delegation were met on arrival in New York, by Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, in Atlanta by Liberia’s Ambassador to the United States William Bull, and Liberia’s Honorary Consul General to Atlanta, Cynthia Nash and the Liberian Community in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Vice President’s delegation include Madam Ciata Bishop, Chairman of the National Investment Commission, T.Nelson Williams, Managaing Director of the LPRC, Miatta Beyslow, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Samuel A. Stevquoah, Chief of Staff to the Vice President, George Saah, Director of Media Relations to the VP, Abdallah Cherif, a member of the Liberia Chamber of Commerce and businessman, Sidikie Konneh,a Liberian Entrepreneur and Joe Mulbah a Liberian Architect.

Today March 28, The Vice President will lay a wreath at the gravesite of Martin Luther King Jr., tour the Historic Ebenezer Church and the historic Martin Luther King, Jr home according to a Vice Presidential dispatch from Atlanta in Georgia.
