Vice President Joseph N. Boakai Wednesday paid a one day working visit to Buchanan Grand Bassa County to meet with citizens and leadership of that county to further explain the programs and policies of Government on a number of critical issues of national development.

Speaking to the citizens at the Fair Grounds in Buchanan, Vice President Boakai said that youth empowerment program was of paramount concern to the Government of Liberia. He said the current youth empowerment program launched by Government was on course and added that it is intended to give the youth a sense of the dignity of labor.

The Vice President met with the leadership of the County, traditional leaders, the county leadership of the Unity Party and later toured facilities at the Port of Buchanan, according to a release from the Office of the Vice President.

On his way to Buchanan, Vice President Boakai inspected the construction work ongoing  on the Monrovia- Buchanan Highway including a very important bridge midway between Harbel and Buchanan.

He described the highway as the best in the country and noted thathe was proud to see a road just like those in other parts of the world.

Later Vice President Boakai held a press conference which was broadcast on three local radio stations in the city of Buchanan, the Vice Presidential press release said.

He responded to a number of issues including the decent work bill before the law makers, the upcoming Senatorial by election in the County  the ongoing pavement of the main street in Buchanan, and his  recent mediation role with the youth in Monrovia among others.
