President Sirleaf Arrives In Abuja on Two-Day Working Visit to ECOWAS Commission

Abuja, Nigeria-Sunday, December 4, 2016: Liberia's President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who is also the Chairperson of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government has arrived in Abuja, the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory on a two-day official working visit to familiarize herself with the activities and functions of the ECOWAS Commission.

According to a dispatch from Abuja, the Liberian leader arrived via British Airways (BA) at 06:50 hours local time at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and is expected to hold a Tete-a-Tete with the President of the ECOWAS Commission Mr. Marcel Alain de Souza, sign the Golden Book, meet with ECOWAS Commissioners, Financial Comptroller and Commission President’s Cabinet as well as get familiarized departmental programmes.

Also, as part of the activities for day one, President Sirleaf will meet with ECOWAS Ambassadors in Abuja, grant audience to the Ambassador of the State of Israel and hold audience with the Ambassador of the European Union.

On hand to receive the Liberian Chief Executive were Foreign Minister, Marjon Kamara, the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Mr. Marcel Alain de Souza, Liberia’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Al-Hassan Conteh, Mr. Edward Singhatey, Vice President of the Commission, the Speaker of ECOWAS Parliament - Honorable Moustapha Cisse Lo, Mrs. Helima Ahmed; Commissioner – Political Affairs and security, Dr. Antoinette Weeks – Commissioner for Infrastructure, Mr. Benedict Roberts – Head of the ECOWAS National Office, among others.
