President Sirleaf Commissions Ministers and Addresses Muslims on Ramadan

Monrovia, Liberia - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has called on Muslims to continue to pray for the peace and reconciliation of all Liberians, irrespective of tribe and religion. She also expressed the hope that the spirit of Eid al-Fitr will strengthen the process of national reconciliation and healing in the country.

The President made the call today in an address to Muslims in observance of the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan. She also extended her congratulations in the name of the Government of Liberia.

In another development, President Johnson Sirleaf has commissioned recently nominated and confirmed government officials at a ceremony held at the C. Cecil Dennis Auditorium at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Those commisioned include Hon. Olubanke King-Akerele, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Hon. Cllr. Philip A.Z. Banks, Minister of Justice and Hon. Frances Johnson-Morris, Minsiter of Commerce.

Other officials commissioned are Hon. Dr. Edward McClain Jr., Minister of State for Presidential Affairs; Hon. Etmonia Tarpeh, Minister for Youth and Sports and Hon. E. Sumo Jones, Liberiaís Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Guinea.
