Arizona Public Safety Director Pays Courtesy Visit to President Boakai in Washington, D.C.; Discussions Focus on Strengthening Liberia’s Police Reform Efforts
Washington D.C, USA: Colonel Jeffrey Glover, Director of Public Safety for the State of Arizona, United States of America, paid a courtesy visit to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., during the President’s brief transit in Washington, D.C., en route to California for official engagements.
The meeting centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the area of public safety, with particular emphasis on supporting Liberia’s ongoing police reform agenda. Discussions highlighted opportunities for technical assistance, capacity building, and institutional strengthening for the Liberia National Police (LNP).
President Boakai welcomed the engagement and expressed his Administration’s strides to professionalizing Liberia’s security sector as a cornerstone for sustainable peace, rule of law, and national development. The President emphasized that a well-trained, adequately equipped, and accountable police force remains critical to ensuring public trust and maintaining internal security.
For his part, Colonel Glover expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage with the Liberian Leader and conveyed his readiness to explore avenues of collaboration between relevant institutions in Arizona and Liberia. He highlighted the importance of knowledge exchange, modern policing techniques, and strategic partnerships in addressing contemporary security challenges.
The discussions further considered potential areas of cooperation including training programs, leadership development, community policing strategies, and the adoption of best practices aimed at improving operational efficiency within the Liberia National Police.
Officials delegation members sitting in the meeting with the President were National Security Advisor Samuel Koffi Woods, Director- General of the Cabinet Nathaniel Kwabo, and Inspector General of the Liberian National Police Gregory Coleman.
The courtesy visit reflects the growing interest of international partners in supporting Liberia’s governance and security sector reforms under the leadership of President Boakai.
