PRESIDENT BOAKAI MEETS WITH TRANSCO CLSG DELEGATION AS LIBERIA EARNS PRAISE FOR EXEMPLARY ROLE IN REGIONAL POWER INITIATIVE

Executive Mansion, Monrovia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. today received a high-level delegation from Transco CLSG, the regional electricity transmission company that connects Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea (CLSG), at the Executive Mansion in Monrovia.

Transco CLSG was established through a treaty among the four West African nations to finance, construct, own, and operate a high-voltage transmission interconnection line, creating a unified and integrated power grid across the region.

The four-member delegation was led by Mr. Jiba Yilla, Acting General Manager of Transco CLSG, and accompanied by Mr. Mohammed Sherif, Managing Director of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC). The team paid a courtesy visit to President Boakai following their return from engagements in Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, and Sierra Leone.

In his briefing, Mr. Yilla praised Liberia’s outstanding role within the CLSG framework, describing the country as the project’s “best customer.” He highlighted Liberia as a success story for the region, noting that the Government, through the LEC, has demonstrated consistent progress and reliability in its partnership with Transco CLSG.

President Boakai, in response, expressed his appreciation to the delegation for their visit and expressed Liberia’s interest for regional cooperation in the energy sector. He lauded the CLSG initiative as a testament to African nations taking ownership of critical infrastructure to drive their collective development.

“It is encouraging to see Africans taking charge of such an important sector to serve their own countries,” President Boakai said, assuring that, “My Government remains committed to supporting the CLSG’s continued growth and success.”

Also present at the meeting were senior government officials, including the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Hon. Samuel A. Stevquoah, and the Acting Minister of Mines and Energy, Hon. Eudora Blay-Pritchard.
