President Boakai Departs Liberia to Attend 17th MEDays Forum in Tangier, Morocco

Executive Mansion, Monrovia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., departed Liberia this evening to attend the 17th edition of the MEDays Forum, slated for November 26–29, 2025, in Tangier, Morocco.

The President is traveling at the invitation of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, under whose High Patronage the internationally renowned MEDays Forum is convened.

Since its inception in 2008, the Forum has evolved into a premier global platform for dialogue on geopolitical, economic, and development issues, earning the designation “the Southern Forum” for its strong focus on perspectives and priorities from the Global South.

President Boakai will address the opening day of the Forum on November 26, where he will be the first among five Heads of State and Government scheduled to speak.

Following his address, President Boakai will receive the prestigious Grand Prix MEDays, the highest honor presented during the Forum. The award recognizes his:

• Leadership in strengthening democratic governance
• Vision for national renewal and institutional reform
• Commitment to peace, stability, and regional cooperation
• Efforts to rebrand Liberia as a credible, responsible, and forward-looking nation

The 2025 Forum is being held under the theme “Fractures and Polarization: Reinventing the Global Equation.” Discussions will explore new frameworks for global cooperation amid rising geopolitical tensions, shifting alliances, and challenges confronting multilateralism.

Throughout the Forum, President Boakai will engage with fellow Heads of State and Government, international policymakers, business leaders, Nobel Laureates, and other prominent global actors.

The event is expected to convene more than 300 speakers and over 7,000 participants from more than 100 countries.

Liberia’s participation underscores the country’s commitment to contributing to global discussions aimed at addressing shared challenges and advancing sustainable development.

The President is accompanied by a small delegation of senior government officials.

In his absence, the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Honorable Samuel A. Stevquoah, will chair the Cabinet.

President Boakai is expected to return to the country on November 28.
